WaterLoad™ water filled ballast bags

Used by Fleet Support Limited - HMS Scott

Seaflex WaterLoad™ ballast bags are regularly used by Fleet Support Limited, one of the UK's leading providers of Royal Navy and commercial ship repair services. FSL is a joint venture between BAE Systems and Vosper Thornycroft, who are both major suppliers of ships and systems to the Royal Navy.

When FSL were asked to test the Aft Pad Eye on HMS Scott a Seaflex WaterLoad was the obvious choice. A 20 Tonne unit was suspended from the pad eye and filled to maximum capacity, then inspected by FSL staff. The 20 Tonne weight was enough to fulfil the pad eye's safe working load test requirement. After the test the unit was drained, packed and returned to Seaflex for service and a periodic test, after which it was ready to go out on its next test.
