Floating Pipelines using Individual IBUs or Kraken™

Seaflex are the major worldwide providers of individual Inflatable Buoyancy Units (IBUs) for pipeline installations in shallow water as well as the long tube Kraken© buoyancy system which in special cases can be used to good advantage.

Kraken

The patented Kraken system consists of a PVC coated fabric tube attached to a pipe at 1.2m intervals to create a continuous buoyancy member which produces very low stresses in the pipe. The Kraken tube is tough and resilient and with the close spaced fixings, each attachment is only under a very small load.

Individual IBUs

The Standard Range of individual IBUs can be used for installation buoyancy on pipeline beach pulls, shore endings and river crossings.

Manufactured and tested in full compliance with IMCA D-016 - Revision 3, Seaflex IBUs are universally accepted by offshore and marine contractors all over the world.
